Women At Work In The Garden

Donna at the construction site for the Boerner Botanical Gardens Education Center (May 2002). Donna's shirt reads, "Women At Work / Women With Hard Hats".

Donna in the garden. The first flower of spring. Snow had begun falling as soon as the picture was taken.

At The Ridges Sanctuary, Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. Donna zooms in on a tiny sundew plant growing near to the boardwalk. Sometimes you have to stretch to get the photo.

Potting up an Hippeastrum (aka Amaryllis) for use as a studio prop many months from now. Planning for future flower shots is a never ending cycle.

Photographing a perennial garden at Boerner Botanical Gardens, Hales Corners, Wisconsin. The Boerner Botanical Gardens are one of Donna's favorite subjects.

Burning brush collected from Donna's native prairie project. Out with the old growth to give room for the new foliage.

Donna being filmed for a Garden Photography television program. Kevin Pulz (left) interviewed Donna as she photographed the perennial beds at Boerner Botanical Gardens. Kevin is the executive producer and director for the MPTV television program, "Great Lakes Gardener" (Filmed 2003, Aired 2004, Episode #307).

Donna and Kevin Pulz discussing photographic technique in the Rose Gardens of Boerner Botanical Gardens. A video tape of the Great Lakes Gardener program can be purchased from MPTV.

Donna and Sharon Malenda observing Donna's newly hung images in Boerner Botanical Gardens Education Center. Donna has 19 of her images on permanent display in the building. The wall print featured in this photo is actually 6 feet by 4 feet. Such huge wall prints were all produced from tiny 35mm slides. Sharon Malenda hand selected all of the images that would be printed and displayed. Reprints are available at the Boerner Botanical Gardens Gift Shop.

Sharon Malenda hand editing the slides that would be selected for printing. The skill of the photographer and the eye of the editor can sometimes produce magic. It did in this case (May 2003).

Donna and Sharon Malenda in the Media Center Room of the Boerner Botanical Gardens Education Center. Thirteen "larger than life", extreme flower closeups, are on permanent display in the room.

Donna discussing garden ideas with Melinda Myers at Stein Garden Center. Note the book in Donna's hand. She asked Melinda to autograph a copy of her new book. We get many of our garden ideas from purchasing and reading Melinda's books, you should too!
