Sarracenia purpurea subspecies purpurea x flava 6/8/2011 Sarracenia purpurea x flava flowers display red and green color. Flowers face upright. Bog. Grower: 6/23/2009 California Carnivores (Sebastopol, CA). |
| The Plant Delights Sarracenia purpurea x flava was sold as the naturally occuring hybrid x catesbaei. After several years of growing in our artificial bog, pitchers formed from this hybrid do not appear significantly differrent from those of an ordinary horticultural Sarracenia purpurea x flava cross. Perhaps this attribute is lost over time or changed by environmental conditions. At best, our hybrid has slightly more burgundy veining on the interior of the pitcher lids. | |
