Dryopteris australis

9/06/2010 Dryopteris australis 13 inches tall. Clump 12 inches wide, measured at frond tips capturing maximum width of plant. Several older fronds appear sunburnt, brown and yellowed. Some old fronds broken (tornado damage?). Newer fronds appear bright green. B34.

Fern survived F1 Tornado without damage (21 June 2010), however it became exposed to much higher light conditions due to canopy reduction.

Dryopteris australis

6/05/2010 Dryopteris australis 15 inches tall. Clump 10 inches wide, measured at frond tips capturing maximum width of plant. In 2009 this declining fern was moved from B26 to B34 (more sun). B34.

7/20/2006 We purchased a different Dryopteris australis from Lowes (Delavan, WI). This fern did not re-appear in the garden in 2007. B26.
