Dryopteris x remota

6/24/2011 Dryopteris x remota 11 inches tall. Clump 11 inches wide, measured at frond tips capturing maximum width of plant. Older fronds appear healthy and robust, no ill effects from previous tornado damage (21 June 2010) was observed. Much higher light conditions due to canopy reduction has not adversely effected fern growth. Plant is slightly reduced is size from last year, but looks strong. B41.

9/06/2010 Dryopteris x remota 11 inches tall. Clump 18 inches wide, measured at frond tips capturing maximum width of plant.

The move to B41, more sun, appears to have reinvigorated fern growth. B41.

Dryopteris x remota

6/06/2010 Dryopteris x remota 10 inches tall. Clump 13 inches wide, measured at frond tips capturing maximum width of plant. Several older fronds appear sunburnt, brown and yellowed. B41.

Fern survived F1 Tornado with significant damage (21 June 2010). Exposed to much higher light conditions due to canopy reduction.

5/29/2007 Dryopteris x remota grew well in first season. Fern declined in 2008 and 2009. Fern was moved from B26 (deep shade) to B41 (part sun). B26.
