5/30/2011 Selaginella sibirica overwintered successfully and is robustly growing. Well, that is, as robustly as a Selaginella can :-)|
Selaginella sibirica was planted on 6/4/2009 (no image). After surviving its first winter, on 5/18/2010 it displayed healthy growth and was recorded as spreading. On 21 June 2010, the pine forest hillside where this plant grew was damaged. The entire pine canopy was eliminated and some of the birch canopy was reduced. This plant location faired better than most. While this former partial shade location was instantly transformed into a sunnier area, some shade remained. Change in growing conditions has not appeared to the disturb this selaginella.
