We have been visiting Martin's Woods since 1996. This environment hosts a great assortment of interesting plant species. Plant species have been collected here since 1874. G.D. Swezey (Wisconsin Geological Survey) 1874, collected Trillium grandiflorum from Big Bend (likely Martin's Woods). C.E. Monroe 1919, collected Carex gracilescens (WI Special Concerns) from Big Bend (likely Martin's Woods). |

S.C. Wadmond 1927, made the first significant collection (about 50 species) from Martin's Woods (Everette Martin Farm / Waucowis), collected Conioselinum chinense (WI Endangered), Corallorhiza maculata (Spotted Coralroot), Deschampsia cespitosa (WI Special Concern), Desmodium cuspidatum var cuspidatum (only specimen from Wisconsin, 8/30), Platanthera huronesis (Huron Green Orchid, 6/24-7/14). H. Staffeld 1930, collected Platanthera orbiculata (Lesser Roundleaved Orchid) from Big Bend (likely Martin's Woods). Norman Fassett 1931, made a significant collection (about 60 species) from Martin's Woods. Peter Salamun 1939. Marjorie Alberts 1945, made a significant collection (about 10 species) from Martin's Woods. Michelle Fredricks 1982, made a significant collection (about 30 species) from Martin's Woods, Liparis liliifolia (Brown Widelip Orchid). |
