The State of Wisconsin, Noxious Weed Statute 66.0407(1)(b), lists 3 plants: Canada Thistle, Field Bindweed, and Leafy Spurge. The Town of Waukesha lists an additional 11 noxious weeds for their area (see list below). The Town of Waukesha does not list these plants by scientific name, only by common name. The Town of Mukwonago Ordinance. Chapter 54 - Public Nuisances. Section 54-32 (Noxious Weed Defined) and Section 54-38 (Form of notice to cut or destroy noxious weeds).

  • Section 54-32: '(a) The term noxious weeds as used in this article includes the following', see noxious weed list below, '(b) The weeds listed in subsection (a) of this section are hereby declared to be noxious within the boundaries of the town.'
  • Section 54-38: 'The form of notice to cut or destroy noxious weeds shall be as follows. Town of Mukwonago. Notice to cut or destroy Noxious Weeds. Notice is hereby given to each and every person who owns, occupies or controls land in the town to cut or destroy the following noxious weeds', see list below, 'of all lands owned, occupied or controlled by such owner in the town and out to the center of any highway on which such lands may abut. You are hereby ordered to cut or destroy the weeds in such manner as shall effectively prevent them from bearing seed or spreading to adjoining property, at your own expense, for the entire season as required by Wis. Stats. 66.0407 and Ordinance No. 83-3. Failure to comply could result in the town removing such weeds and the expense of such removal charged to the applicable real estate pursuant to Wis. Stats. 66.92(1).'

Village of Mukwonago Code: Chapter 34 Environment. Section 34 (Mowing of property).

  • Section 34-1. (a): 'Required. No person owning property within the village shall permit to grow or pollinate upon his premises or in the parkway any weeds or grasses, Burdock, Canada Thistle, Bindweed or Creeping Jennie, Leafy Spurge, Bull Thistle, Sow Thistle, Wild Mustard, Yellow Rocket, Yellow Dock, Russian Thistle, Giant Foxtail, English Charlock, Musk Thistle, Velvet Leaf, Quack or Quitchgrass, Wild Radish, Buckhorn Plantain, Goatsbeard, Harmful Barberry, and Marijuana, all of which cause or produce hay fever in human beings, exhale unpleasant or noxious weed odors or conceal filthy deposits. In order to prevent such growth and pollination, it shall be the duty of every property owner to mow or cause to be mowed upon his premises and parkway all grasses or weeds exceeding one foot in height and in such manner as shall effectively prevent them from bearing seed or spreading to adjoining property. The word parkway means that area between the property's front lot line or sidewalk and the nearest curbline or edge of pavement of the road running parallel or generally parallel thereto.'
