Bon Bon Cookies

Combine dates, walnuts and vanilla. Shape into balls using 1/2 tsp for each ball.

Beat egg whites and salt until stiff but not dry. Add sugar dradually. Beat until mixture holds a firm peak. Blend in vanilla. Divide meringue if desired. Tint meringue. Drop each ball into meringue, remove with teaspoon. Place on greased sheets. Swirl top. Bake at 250 about 30 minutes.
